How to: Lead a D E V O T I O N A L
We believe that real change happens when people gather together to discuss God’s word and what He is doing in their lives. Often, leading a devotional can feel very intimidating, but we don’t want this to be just one more thing that adds to your to-do list. We’ve come up with five easy steps to help you bring your people together this holiday season.
This devotional was created to be read daily and shared as your schedule allows it. With the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, we challenge you to slow down and make room for the Lord to move in your community. In our home, we gather weekly to process what the Lord is teaching us through this devotional. You can meet weekly, monthly, or via online - but we believe change happens when we share together what the Lord is teaching and pressing upon us throughout this season. We are excited and expectant to see how the Lord will move through your community as you Let it Be about Him.
- Order devotionals - we ship in bulk too! Feel free to order for your friends, or text them a link to our website for easy purchasing!
- Invite your friends - be bold! Pray for direction for who the Lord is encouraging you to spend time with this season!
Make it fun - Make some food, crank up the tunes, through a wrapping party, do a diy - but more than anything, don’t over think it. Do something that feels natural for you and your people! Weather it be simple or extravagant, use your gifts that God has wired you with to host people in a way that is easy and life giving to you.
Create space for discussion - Whether through one of our suggested activities or guided through questions, we encourage a simple time of sharing. We want people to feel invited to explore and celebrate this season. Below we've attached some sample questions that will serve as a great starting point for discussion!
Encourage + cultivate community - Each year we create this study with community in mind. Whether you are walking through Let it Be with family, friends, or our greater online community, be bold with each other this season.
Sample questions: What theme has stuck out to you? Which Let it Be declaration do you hold to in this season? What declaration is hard for you to live into right now? What have you learned about God? What have you learned about yourself? Has this advent season felt different than in the past? Why or why not?
All in all, there is no right or wrong way to lead your small group - the most important thing is gathering your people together to grow in the Lord. We are praying big, bold prayers over you and your community and we ask that the Lord would bless your obedience a million times over. We are believe in you and are cheering for you.
Lord, we ask you to show up in mighty ways and do whatever you need to do in our hearts and lives
All Glory to God,
